Google Map Street View Turns 10 Years Old Today – A Decade of Excellence

Google’s Street View for map celebrates its 10th birthday today. It was first launched in May 2007 in several cities of the United States of America. And today, a decade later, street view imagery are available on every continent. To be more precise, it is available in 83 countries by now.

According to Google, it has travelled about 10 million miles with the Street View car.

It is interesting to know that most of the photography is done by cars equipped with high-end cameras. However, there are places where cars can’t go and shoot. For such places, several other means like trekker, tricycle, walking, boat, snowmobile, and underwater apparatus are used to shoot images for Street View’s imagery.
